ABIODUN SAMUEL TOMMY AWOYEMI’S BIOGRAPHY

ABIODUN SAMUEL TOMMY AWOYEMI’S BIOGRAPHY

These are the paintings of Samuel Abiodun Tommy Awoyemi. His paintings, shown throughout Nigeria and some parts of the African Country like Republic of Benin Cote D’Ivoir, and with the help of some friends in Ghana, Cameroon have a direct and different connection with the human emotion. Each of the painting has its own felling in which the viewer is drawn further into the painting and allowed to experience for a moment, freedom from the real world troubles, and connection with the inner calm of Tommy’s work.

Tommy is a single man, a native of Osun State, a state that is rich in Art and Culture. In fact, a place that we all believe in Nigeria that is the origin of Art and Culture, such as Osun Festival popularly known all over the world, Tie and Die Festival, Baltic etc., all these have been a part of Tommy’s life since childhood by the assistant of Mrs. Wenger, the present Yeye Osun.

In my galleria, I have some apprentices that have been under me for the past 3 years and some that have been on their own. Even though I have been involved in Art for many years, I still have a very real connection with my collectors. I feel extremely fortunate that God has given me a gift to enable me to touch so many people with both my teaching and my art, for without Him, it would not be possible.

The paintings Tommy creates are designed to do just that, put you in a better state of mind as you gaze through and transcend into one of his works. This is, as Tommy puts it, “The role of an artist, is to convey a feeling through the painting a feeling that you didn’t have before you viewed it. My art is painted from the heart, and meant to be viewed for years, moving mankind to a more peaceful and passionate state of mind.
